How to Automatically Publish Static Help

You can automate the publish function by calling a specific URL. Before this can be done, a script needs to be added to the 'publish.aspx' page. Here's how to do it:

1. Use a text editor such as notepad to open the file "c:\program files\helpconsole 2010\_engine\publish.aspx"
2. Add the following script just above the </form> tag (near the bottom of the page)

<script type="text/javascript">
 if (document.getElementById("trPublishStatic").style.display == "") {
  if (location.href.lastIndexOf("publish=static") > 0) {
   document.getElementById("btnPublishStatic").click();
  }
 }
</script>

3. Save the 'publish.aspx' file.

You can now automatically publish a static help system by specifying the following URL:

syntax: http://{servername}/helpconsole2010/_engine/publish.aspx?projectname={projectname}&publish=static
example: http://server1/helpconsole2010/_engine/publish.aspx?projectname=project1&publish=static

HelpConsole 2010
