How to Insert a Camtasia Video

Question:  I have uploaded the .swf file and the mp4 file.  I inserted the .swf file.  I only see a black box.  What else am I supposed to do to get the video to run?

Answer:

This will happen if IIS on your web server is not configured to support the MIME type “video/mp4”. I suspect that is the cause. It can either be added manually in the IIS admin console, or it can be added to the “web.config” configuration file. There is a line included in the web.config file that can be uncommented to make this work. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Use a text editor such as NotePad to open “c:\program files\Helpconsole 2012\web.config”
  2. Change the following line:

<!-- <staticContent><mimeMap fileExtension=".mp4" mimeType="video/mp4" /></staticContent> -->

To:

<staticContent><mimeMap fileExtension=".mp4" mimeType="video/mp4" /></staticContent>

  1. Save the file.
