How to Open Project from Root Domain URL

Question:
Can I allow my users to enter a root domain URL such as http://help.domain.com to open a project, instead of entering http://help.domain.com/myproject

Answer:
It's not possible to configure IIS to do this, however there are a couple of other options that work just as well:

Option 1: Redirect to Project
You can add a redirect function to open a specific help system instead of displaying the ‘Manage Projects’ screen. Here’s how to do it:

1. Copy “c:\program files\helpconsole 2010\default.htm” to “default_old.htm”
2. Use a text editor such as Notepad to edit “c:\program files\helpconsole 2010\default.htm”
3. Replace the contents of this file with the following code: (where myproject is the name of the project that you want to open)

<script type="text/javascript">
window.location = "myproject/default.aspx"
</script>

4. Save the file

After doing this, you’ll still be able to open the “Manage projects” form with the URL: http://onlinehelp.theobald-software.com/_engine/default.aspx

Option 2: Embed Help URL in an iframe
You can embed the project url in an iframe.

<html>
<head></head>
<body style="margin:0px;padding:0px;">
<iframe src="myproject/default.aspx" style="width:100%;height:100%" frameborder="0"></iframe>
</body>
