Unrecognized Configuration Section 'connectionStrings'

Problem:
The following error occurs after installing HelpConsole:

Parser Error Message: Unrecognized configuration section 'connectionStrings'



Cause: 
.NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 is installed, but there is also an older version of the .NET Framework is installed such as 1.1 or 1.0, that the HelpConsole virtual directory is associated with.  

Solution:
Change the 'HelpConsole2010' virtual directory to point to the newer version of .NET Framework. The steps are different depending on the version of Windows:

Windows 2003 / Windows XP
1. Click "Start > Control Panel > Administrative tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager"
2. Expand the left pane to "Web Sites > Default Web Site > HelpConsole2010"
3. right click "HelpConsole2010" and select "properties"
4. Select the 'ASP.NET' tab
5. Change "ASP.NET Version" to 2.0 or higher
6. Click "OK"

Windows Vista / Windows 2008 / Windows 7
1. Click "Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager"
2. Expand the left pane and select "Application Pools"
3. Double Click "DefaultAppPool"
4. Change ".NET Framework Version" to 2.0 or higher
5. Click 'OK'
